Our Social Value Commitments with LHC’s New Build Housing Construction Framework

We are delighted to have featured in the LHC’s New Build Housing & Construction Framework weekly news feed highlighting our commitment and achievements in social value across multiple framework contracts. See above link.

Highlights include;

304 Bensham Lane with Southern Housing Group

  • Major funding commitment: £150,000 was allocated to Fresh Visions, a charity supporting individuals affected by poverty, domestic abuse, limited access to education, and social exclusion.
  • Educational site visit: A guided site tour was organised for pupils with special educational needs, allowing them to safely explore construction machinery and learn about the industry.
  • Material donation: Surplus timber and pallets were donated to local allotments, supporting community sustainability initiatives.
  • Artist workshop: A local artist was commissioned to deliver a free creative workshop for pupils at a nearby school.
  • Christmas toy collection: A festive collection was organised, encouraging tradespeople and operatives to donate gifts and funds to the RWW Foundation, supporting underprivileged children.
  • Local employment: 35% of the workforce was recruited locally.
  • Apprenticeships created: Additional apprenticeship opportunities were established in bricklaying, electrical, and plumbing trades.

Farmstead Drive partnering Sevenoaks District Council

  • Young people’s mural: Oakwood collaborated with pupils from Edenbridge Primary School and members of the House Youth Club to design and paint two vibrant murals on the temporary hoarding. The artwork captures the past, present, and future of the Spitals Cross estate, transforming the construction site into a community-led gallery.
  • New playground: A brand-new playground was constructed for local children, replacing outdated equipment and creating a safer, more inclusive space for play.

St. Columba’s Close partnering Gravesham Borough Council

  • Supporting Riverside Community Resource Trust: Oakwood provided both labour and materials to help develop accessible garden facilities for individuals with learning difficulties, creating a therapeutic and lasting community resource.
  • Community events: A financial contribution was made to Gravesham Borough Council to support the Summer Fun and Riverside Festival, helping ensure inclusive recreational opportunities for all.
  • Local apprenticeships: New apprenticeship opportunities were created for local people in bricklaying and electrical trades.
